Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect from my first session?
Your first session can feel like a big step – and it is, however, it is also the beginning of something meaningful: a space just for you. Here is what you can generally expect:
A Warm Introduction
Your therapist will start by welcoming you and going over confidentiality, and setting the tone for a safe, supportive environment. You don’t need to share everything right away – this is a slow intentional process.
A Chance to Share Your Story:
You will be invited to talk about what brought you to therapy. You might discuss current challenges, your goals, or just how you’ve been feeling lately. It is okay if you don’t have the “right words” – we are here to help you unpack things at your own pace.
Questions That Help Build Understanding:
You can expect gentle, curious questions. These will help us to understand your experiences, background and what support might look like for you.
No Pressure to Perform:
This isn’t an interview, and there is no pressure to be “perfect”. You’re allowed to feel awkward, emotional, or unsure. However you show up is enough.
A Sense of What is Next:
By the end of the session, we may begin discussing goals, frequency of sessions, and how the process will unfold.
Final Thought:
Therapy isn’t about having it all figured out–it is about starting where you are. Your first session is just the beginning of learning to show up for yourself in a new, healing way.
